The Physical Education Program uses the approach of wellness, sports, games, and movement challenges to provide the children with the best possible combination of experiences. These varied activities should allow the students to meet the following physical education guidelines. All children should have the opportunity to develop and maintain a level of physical fitness commensurate with individual needs and also come to an understanding of how to maintain fitness for a lifetime of activity. Each child should become competent in body management and in useful physical skills. Through a positive physical education environment, children should acquire desirable social standards and ethics. Children should acquire knowledge of safety skills and habits and develop an awareness of safety with respect to themselves and others. Children should develop physical skills that allow them to participate in and derive enjoyment from wholesome recreational activities throughout their lifetime. Each child should develop a desirable self-concept through relevant physical education experiences.
The Radnor Township School District Art Department is proud to present the 2021 Youth Art Month Exhibit. This virtual display of student works is in lieu of the annual Youth Art Month exhibit typically on display at Radnor High School in March. The pieces were selected by district art teachers Alicia Agatone (Ithan Elementary School), Susan Eyerly (Radnor Elementary School), Allyson Gallagher (Wayne Elementary School), Gayle Barwick-Collins and Christopher Pittman (Radnor Middle School) and Erik Barrett and Tracey Dean (Radnor High School). The Pennsylvania Department of Education designates March as Youth Art Month to emphasize the value of art education for all students and to encourage public support for quality school art programs. Art education in RTSD is designed to nurture and develop the natural joy of creating visual art; technical skill in art production; an appreciation for arts and artists, past and present, from various cultures; creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills; and visual literacy.
Pineapple Day is Friday, March 26. The pineapple is the symbol of hospitality, something that we hope we are all extending to one another daily here at RES. The Pineapple Day tradition began two years ago with the goal to strengthen collegiality, positive interactions, and an overall healthy school-wide environment. Students and staff are invited to break out their festive summer and luau wear and help the RES family get ready for a week of Spring Break!
